So I've been getting excited about silicon molds of late. Mainly because I've been thinking of selling some creations and I'd like to find a way to produce in a larger scale, reduce time taken, and get a better quality.
I'm not feeling brave enough to take molds of my own yet, so I've been buying a few pieces from ebay to experiment.
Here's a couple I got recently.
This one just arrived. The letters are really chunky, kind like keyboard key size. I intend to use them as large beeds I think...watch this space.
This multi shape mold I got specifically for the heart shape, but sadly its larger than I'd hoped. The star works great, but the rose not so much.
This one hasn't arrived yet - I have a bit of a strawberry obsession. I'm hoping they will come out good - again will report when it arrives.
This awesome cookie letter press I got because I am rubbish at writing/scribing on clay. It works fairly well, except putting the letters in the holder is a bit fiddly. I had better results just pushing the letters in where I wanted them one by one. The font is something like Vag or Arial rounded - so its not very versatile in its look, but still serves a purpose. I use it on some of the items in this post:
This hello kitty mold was from Dunelm Mill and probably my favorite and the most useful, since HK is such a hard thing to create manually and make it look right. Even so I think the nose is a little large on this one - but its a licensed product, and the result is pretty good.
Here's a classic white kitty I made. Man I hate white clay...I swear you need a clean laboratory with jump suits to not get fluff and crap in it :-S.
Any tips fimo crafters?
